Areca Palm

Dypsis lutescens, also known as golden cane palm, areca palmyellow palm, or butterfly palm should be the first one to make the list. The plant can grow up to 7 ft but the container will keep the height limited. Plant doesn’t like the direct sun light and grows well in the indirect light. Areca palm filters xylene and toluene from the air and also acts as great dehumidifier.

Snake Plant

It filters out formaldehyde, which is commonly found in personal-care products. It is one of the top air-purifying plants identified by NASA. This plant is one of the easiest to grow and requires very little attention.  The plant can be left for days without being watered. Soil in the pot has to be porus so that water doesn’t get stagnated there.

Aloe Vera

It is found in many consumer products including beverages, skin lotion, or ointments for minor burns and sunburns. The leaves are thick and fleshy, green to grey-green. Ideal for small spaces. This plant clears formaldehyde and benzene, which is generally found in cleaning chemicals, paints and other toxins.

Spider Plant

This lovely plant removes benzene, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide and xylene.   If you see the plant turning a little brown, do not worry. Plant requires very little water and can stay without water for long periods. Plant has to be placed in a container which has well drained soil.
