Google Buzz is having all Gmail users very excited about the new offerings. It may be only early days but stats reveal that Buzz usage is sky rocketing. Gmail users were initially surprised to see Buzz page after login in to their account few days back. Some even tweeted to know the ways to shut it off as they found it was creating too much of noise in their private space. But the same users are now coming back and have started enjoying Buzz. No doubt security concerns still remain but Google will definitely move ahead to allay all these fears. But a few of web enthusiasts and geeks are a wee bit surprised with the launch of Buzz. Few thought when Google already has a similar product in Google Wave then why launch Buzz which has pretty strong resemblance to Wave. Ian Paul at PCWorld has done some analysis and compared the features of Google Wave and Google Buzz. Broadly speaking if Wave is online collaboration and communication tool, Buzz only lets you share pictures, messages, videos, links and status updates just the way it is done with Facebook and Twitter.
Google Buzz is presently available in the Gmail but Google spokesman has confirmed that Buzz may be quite soon available as a separate apps as well.
“No, we’re not planning to remove Buzz from Gmail. Among some of the features we’re considering is building a standalone Buzz experience in addition to the one in Gmail at some point in the future,” a Google spokesperson tells TechCrunch.
Facebook, Twitter and hordes of other social networking sites will be alarmed at the launch of Buzz in Gmail. Launching of Buzz as a standalone application would not have raised any concerns for the existing players in social networking domain but tweaking it Gmail would definitely cause lots of consternation amongst established players.
Facebook may not be alone, others may also have to wary of another player in their neighborhood and that too mighty one.
