Ubuntu Tablets and Netbooks

Those who have laid their hands on Linux Distro Ubuntu  must be wondering why the world has not yet adopted Ubuntu for Tablets or for that matter netbooks in a big way. Canonical has been working on lightweight version of Ubuntu to improve the performance and speed. Those looking for instant web gratification may have to wait just up the first quarter of 2011. Ubuntu-for-tablets will be a derivative of Ubuntu 10.10, Maverick Meerkat , which is due for release in October 2010. It is understood that the tablet and netbook Ubuntu  will be merged into Ubuntu Light, which is based on Canonical’s high-speed, stripped-down Unity interface.  Ubuntu OS for tablets would be slimmed and stripped down version of Linux with a touch screen interface.

After the launch and the buzz which the iPad has generated over the world, it is expected that iPad and Netbooks are two segments in the computer hardware markets which will record handsome gains over the coming years.

Ubuntu’s in its present form itself is quite light weight and provides very fast browsing experience. The improvements which is expected may make Ubuntu the ideal choice for all iPad clones  which are expected to flood the markets in coming times.
