Ubuntu 10.10 beta Maverick Meerkat is here.
Ubuntu 10.10 is due to arrive next month (10/10, of course) and it is certain that Ubuntu would keep its date with 10th Oct 2010 deadline. There are many features which this edition of Ubuntu has tried to focus on. The list of these features are maintained here at Maverick blueprint list. The development would continue and new features would get added. Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and in fact all previous editions of Ubuntu are quite stable and it has succeeded in meeting every expectations which the users and developers had till date.
Upgrading from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
The instructions to upgrade from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS are listed below at Ubuntu page are being reproduced here.
To upgrade from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on a desktop system, press Alt+F2 and type in “update-manager -d” (without the quotes) into the command box. Update Manager should open up and tell you: New distribution release ’10.10′ is available. Click Upgrade and follow the on-screen instructions.
To upgrade from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on a server system: install the update-manager-corepackage if it is not already installed; edit /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades and setPrompt=normal; launch the upgrade tool with the command sudo do-release-upgrade -d; and follow the on-screen instructions.
