Wordpress in itself is quite a strong blogging platform. PHP-MySQL combination makes it very elegant and easy to use blogging tool. But effectiveness of Wordpress can be enhanced much more by deft use of some handy plugins. There are many posts on the web which will tell you about the utilities of Wordpress Plugins. Many illustrious bloggers have come out with their own top five plugins but there are some entities in the lists which are common to all top plugins list.

We have taken views of many top bloggers and have therefore factored in their views in deciding about the following list. We can’t say this list of top five plugins is sacrosanct but we are quite confident that most of our fellow bloggers will agree with our opinion.

Akismet by Matt Mullenweg: This simple but wonderful plugin from Matt comes with Wordpress installation. This plugin helps in detecting spam and keeps your comments list clean. With time the quality of spam detection improves based on your options of declaring them as spam or otherwise.
All in One SEO Pack by Michael Torbert: This is one plugin which can take care of your all worries of SEO. Even if you decide to not to have any other plugin for SEO purposes, this one would take care of your 80% of SEO requirements.
FeedBurner FeedSmith by FeedBurner: Originally from Steve Smith, this plugin detects all ways to access your original WordPress feeds and redirects them to your FeedBurner feed so you can track every possible subscriber.
Yet Another Related Posts Plugin by mitcho (Michael Yoshitaka Erlewine): Popularly called as YARPP, this post is quite effective in finding out the related posts from your achieves and places them as hyperlinked items in the list below the referred post.
Email Users by Vincent Prat (email : vpratfr@yahoo.fr): This plugin may not appear in every top five plugin lists but some bloggers have used it quite effectively with a focus on Viral Marketing strategy.
