RSS Feeds for MS OUTLOOK
RSS or the Really Simple Syndication feeds are generally employed by media outlets and web logs to display and distribute the content in standardized format. Standardized XML files help in publishing the content once and then distributing as many times as is required. There is one unique benefit of RSS which is aggregation of content from may web sources at one place. Bloglines and NewsGator like many others employ RSS feeds for syndication purposes. Delivery mechanism of RSS content is what is commonly referred as RSS feeds. In addition to many such aggregators mentioned above, MS Outlook provides a feature “RSS Feeds” which can be used to display your favourite content in the Microsoft Outlook. So next time when you open up your all weather email client MS Outlook, your RSS feeds will also get updated and the new content will be delivered just like your mails in the Outlook.
However on the flip side, you will have this additional feature in your MS Outlook but in case your Internet connection is a bit on the slower side then you may not like the experience as your regular emailing work may get affected. But on the other side if you have no such Internet speed issues then you can definitely download your RSS content along with your emails in Outlook.
Your settings from your Google Reader can also be transferred to MS Outlook by first exporting OPML files through Google Reader and the by importing the same in MS Outlook. Your RSS feed section then in MS Outlook will have exactly the same settings as you have configured it in Google Reader and you can view all your Google Reader content in MS Outlook.
