Online Versus Offline Word Processing Tools.

There are views both in favor and against of these offline and online tools. This debate may be relevant today but in coming years offline word processing tool will surely not exist. There will be only online word processing tools. We are in fact moving towards an era of cloud and online world where the  documents will live online only. Today we are debating this issue because internet has not yet reached everywhere.

There are two types of word processing software that exists. The offline word processors are MS Word, OpenOffice and online word processing tools are Google Docs, Zoho Docs etc.

Offline documents  do not need the Internet. For some people, this is a very important point. Even in today’s day and age the Internet is not EVERYWHERE you go. Even where Internet connection is present if it dial up then you can not think of processing documents online.  There are also so many countries where Internet connectivity is not very developed.  One can work on offline word processing documents if your Internet goes phut.

While with online tools the best thing is that you have all your documents at one place. You can update them anywhere and everywhere wherever you have the online connectivity. You are not required to carry your files in your USB drive or laptops when you move out. These online documents can be shared and collaborated over Internet.
