No Offline Access for Google Docs Now.
Google has announced that there would be no offline access to Google Docs from 3rd May 2010 onwards. This I would say is a signal that Google will be phasing out Gears now. Riding on new technology, Google is expected to embrace the new HTML5 for many such similar features as offered by Google Gears. But even though the support will be removed the documents can still be exported to computer and the offline files can be uploaded back. May 3rd onwards one will not be able to work in Google docs with Internet disconnected. Google’s embracing of HTML5 would help it provide many features like Gears in the near future without relying on the browsers ability to offer or block plugins.
