New Google Search Options may further reduce Carbon Footprint.
Google had come out with search options in May, earlier this year where you had the opportunity to refine your search based on specifics. Positioned at the top left hand side the search options came with many new features which made way for saving lots of time for Googlers. Users have found this feature quite chick and attractive.
Earlier this year there were many reports in media about quantum of CO2 emissions per every Google search. Physicist from Harvard University had hinted at a figure of 7g to10g per search query. Google’s response to this issue is here. Google spends lots of resources on being Green in operations. But the fact that every search queries gets routed through parallel computing architecture employing many servers to get the best results for the users is something which should have been weighing heavily on Google’s mind. This experience only has made the Googling an essential and inseparable part of our daily lives.
Earlier Internet users resorted to keeping the URLs at one location, employed Favourites on IE, Bookmarks on Firefox etc keep track of their favourite websites. But relevancy of Google search has made all such methodologies a thing of past. Present Internet surfer has to just Google and results are most relevant and specific.
Show options feature on Google search results is a great way for Google to emphasize on their Green image. Through this option, Googlers can save lots of time and cut down on repetitive refined searches. I am sure through this option Google might have saved many grams if CO2 emissions.
Recently Google has further added many new features, precisely nine, which would have added affect on the performance of Google search as a whole. These nine options are past hour, specific date range, more shopping sites, fewer shopping sites, visited pages, not yet visited, books, blogs and news. The options are great and bring you to the topics and results which you are looking for, right in the very few first times.
