Income Tax credit statements e-mailed

Department of Income Tax (Systems) New Delhi has mailed, tax credit statements to all tax payees. This is a welcome initiative and would help tax payees to check back their tax paid information with employers and deductors. Tax payees armed with this statement can cross check with deductors to alleviate any doubts which they might be having on  errors or mistakes in keying in of tax information. The statement is month wise and shows tax deposited every month with the Government.

Department has also conveyed that from financial year 2009-10 onwards, the tax credit will be tallied with the tax paid information filed in return. And tax credit will be accepted only to the extent as reflected in the statement. Department has also come out with an one time option of registration which will help tax payees to check their credits during the ensuing financial year 2009-10 and onwards at www.incometaxindia.gov.in.

This move will benefit everybody whether it is the employer, a tax payee individual, company or the Government.
