Energy Efficiency and Energy Savings are the cool words which the consultants rip off during their presentations. Those of us who have been in the corporate world might have attended many a presentations on saving energy and fuel, Green Building etc. In fact there are many programs going on where lots of money have been invested to make our operations much more efficient leading to saving of the energy in the longer terms.Energy management in Green building or for that matter anywhere, is cross functional topic involving disciplines of Electrical, Civil and Mechanical Engineering.

Therefore an energy technologist has to have exposure in all fields of engineering. Green Buildings is a topic which people may think has leanings with Civil Engineering or Architecture alone. But a commercial building is an energy guzzler. It requires substantial power to keep its operations like Air Conditioning, Warming, Heating, Lighting and running of other appliances running.

With awareness of people growing in and the Green building buzz is catching on. There have been quite a few instances where professionals have been found shifting from their chosen vocations to Energy Management or Energy Auditing. But the demand of personnel in Green Building or other areas of energy management will continue to grow in the coming times. US and EU may be leading the race in Green Building technologies at this moment but the coming times will see lots of opportunities arriving on the energy management segment. A curve showing awareness and demand of green building opportunities during last four year tells the story on its own.
