How many times you have wished if you could zero in on the most relevant results you are looking for in Google search, right in the first instance. But rarely does it happen. When you are searching for some specific information, you inarguably get your desired results after two or three trials. We all know this fact for sure, nothing is wrong with Google search engine. It is only how we frame our queries that determines the quality of our results.
Google Guide is one such online interactive portal which offers to raise your searching experience to the new level. Nancy Blachman, creator of Google Guide states:
Google Guide is an online interactive tutorial and reference for experienced users, novices, and everyone in between. I developed Google Guide because I wanted more information about Google’s capabilities, features, and services than I found on Google’s website.
Google Guide is neither affiliated with or endorsed by Google Inc. Though many of such help topics are available on Google site but the way these handy tips have been categorized in Google Guide, I would say it is much more simpler and easy to understand through Google Guide.
Depending upon the user’s level the site has been divided in to three broad heads, Novices, Experts and Teens. Novices are explained the basics like forming the apt query, use of operators like
The + Operator
The – Operator
The ~ Operator
The OR and | Operators
The .. Operator
The […]
etc. In addition novices are also explained how to conduct advance search and refine their queries.
Experts section raises the bar and it is assumed that basics on Google search are well and truly understood by the users. The experts section further dwell on interpretation and refinement on queries, understanding the results and services like Google labs and tips on how to get your website indexed in Google results.
Teen section discusses the issues and topics most relevant to Teens. These may include greetings, games, places for hanging out, faq, definitions etc.
We all have gone overboard over Wolfram Alpha and have hailed it as the exciting computation search engine. But very few of Google users know that Google can also compute and offer definitions just like Wolfram Alpha does. Only thing important is to know how to frame the queries to get the right answer right the first time. All basic operators, conversions, trigonometric expressions etc can be performed through Google search.
