We don’t know why Windows is having definite plans to phase out this sturdy OS which after so many years is still in use in many parts of the world. Many have tried, used Vista and then have come back to the all loved XP. Microsoft still recommends XP on netbooks and offers support for XP. But there is one piece of information which will be taken not too kindly by the Microsoft.

Betanews has a Windows web browsers test suite which they have used to compare five different browsers on XP SP3, Vista SP2 and Windows 7 RTM. Their observations have been startling. It has been found that XP SP3 beats the other Windows OS hands down. Web browsers on XP SP3 are  13% faster than Win 7 RTM and 29% on Vista SP2.

Amongst the Web browsers, Chrome 3 has outsmarted every other browser on XP with Apple’s Safari coming next. This piece of news from the stable of Betanews will definitely have the Microsoft guys turning anxious. The reasons are not all that difficult to explain. Microsoft will have to mull over what further improvements can be made to Win 7 OS.

Chrome, definitely wants to focus on XP to grab the exploding browsers’ Netbook market share. Chrome’s focusing on XP has precisely two objectives. First, XP being default OS for Netbooks, the ever growing popularity of netbooks will help in enhancing Chrome’s market share. Second, many PCs still run with XP. Chrome will prove to be the browser of choice over there.
