College authorities world over have resorted ways and methods to pull students out from their desktops and laptops. Universities have restricted the Internet hours, limited the Internet access etc to force students lead offline lives. But our observation is that once college authorities resorts to controlling and limiting the Internet access, students will find ways to take their frustrations and feelings out. This lead to students showing pronounced withdrawl symptoms.

Students can resort to following listed methodologies to take control of their lives and try to wriggle out from Internet addiction.

  • Limit Internet Hours: Instead of letting authorities resort to limiting Internet hours, you can plan your hours and study time so that you don’t have to be guided by others.
  • Disconnect Internet: If you don’t have control over yourselves then just disconnect the Internet for few hours daily. During this period try to concentrate on your studies. Go outdoors to play.
  • Smart studying: Plan your studying hours to have maximum impact. Studies are all about concentration. When you take up some subject for studies you will have to give your hundred percent effort.
  • Keep some time out for Internet: prioritize your life. In case your priorities at the moment are studies then don’t waste your time in getting active on social networking sites. Keep some 10 minutes out for checking your Facebook, Twitter or MySpace account daily once in the morning and once in the evening.
  • Checking Email: If you compulsorily press send and receive button too often then this is one predominant sign that you are addicted to Internet.  Allot some time for doing that. Morning and evening would be just fine. But just don’t linger on. Once you have checked, read and replied your emails just log off.
  • Start playing some outdoor sports: The very first causality for an Internet addict is sports. The guy  will always find an excuse to stay indoors. Force yourself, just go out exercise and have some fresh Oxygen.
