Chemistry as a subject is generally not given importance as is given to Physics and Mathematics by aspiring students. Students do not find Chemistry an interesting subject. Class XI and XII students generally devote close to 80% of their study time on Mathematics and Physics. Chemistry is a scoring subject. With a little bit of more attention, aspiring student can get their ranks improved substantially. Cut off scores in JEE for Physics and Mathematics are low compared to Chemistry’s scores. This itself implies that marks obtained in Chemistry actually determines whether a student make it to the final list. I have discussed this issue with IITians and almost all of them feels that had they given more attention to Chemistry their ranks would have improved considerably. Sooner one realizes this fact better placed he is to get good ranks in JEE.

How to hit the bulls eye – a 5 steps guide to excel in studies-Rule #4
Rule # 4.
Another important rule to excel in your academic life is to follow “Read before” rule. The rule says – Read the chapter a day before the same is likely to be taught in the class. Generally teachers tells the students about which topic will be covered in the class. This is in fact an indication to the students to go through the topic at least once before coming to the class. The rule is quite simple but very effective. The “Read before” rule enhances the learning and students are able to retain and understand the concepts quite easily. This rule though has been placed at #4 but that does not take anything away from its significance.
Those students, who have practiced this rule, have benefited greatly. The rule is being generally followed by nearly all the toppers.
