Microsoft has released Silverlight 2.0. Every .NET developer was awaiting with bated breath since 2007 when the Silverlight 1.0 was launched. Now Flash will have competition. Earlier Silverlight 1.0 version was only a video only version with some javascript/AJAX support rolled in to it. The present version is expected to allow developers to create applications which can be built with any programming languages available in Visual Studio, including VB.NET, C# etc. Microsoft is working on some other products like Silverlight Control Pack and publishing of MSDN for technical specifications.
After dismal performance and results announced for the quarter ending on Sept 2008, Yahoo has announced cut jobs.Yahoo! has around 15000 employees on its rolls. With announcement of 10% cut, 1500 numbers of employees will have to go.
