Retrofit existing buildings with Green-Technology.
It is a known fact that most of state run buildings are energy guzzlers. When they came in to being, not much emphasis was laid on energy conservation. The only objective was to see that how early this building can come in to being and should serves the purpose for which it was being constructed. Times have changed. Now strong emphasis on energy security has lead to a new awareness amongst masses and classes alike. Every organization worth its salt now has an Environmental Policy on ISO 14001:2004 guidelines, where strong emphasis on conservation of resources has been laid.
Retrofitting existing buildings is a more effective strategy rather than constructing new green buildings to meet the renewable energy targets. But easier said than done. Retrofitting a green building needs hard work and more effort than constructing a new green building.
LA city council has recently passed a “Green Building Retrofit Ordinance” that promises to retrofit all city owned building larger than 7500 square feet or built before 1978 with “Green-Tech” in order to achieve LEED silver level certification.

It is expected that such an ordinance will not only bring about environment change and energy savings but would also provide lots of green jobs. The move by LA city council comes close on the heels of another energy friendly decision which calls for replacing streetlights with energy efficient LED.
NEW YORK mayor Michael Bloomberg is also pushing ahead plans to turn Empire State Building green. Though critics may dub ‘Environmentalist’ NYC mayor a big energy spender but he is doing a lot to promote wind and solar power in NY.

I’ve enjoyed reading these types of blogs. Intriguing stuff! Solar energy has constantly been a fascination with me.
wind generators are not very efficient but they are clean sources of energy’;;
wind generators are expensive but they do deliver lots and lots of clean electrical power`;’
