New technology to ward off terrorist threats

taj New technology to ward off terrorist threats environment

We all are aware of the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks. The Taj has been able to withstand the onslaught of blasts and gun battle only because of its solid structure and inherent strength. Any other present day building would not have been able to bear the onslaught of so many explosions and blasts. Such incidents bring up to the fore, the necessity to have protection cover to existing buildings and structures so that damages can be minimized.

Lots of R&D efforts have been going on in all corners of world to design materials and structures which can withstand impacts and forces generated out of such blasts and explosions.  The principle behind such products is to design materials with properties which can withstand impacts. Design of bullet proof jackets is based on this philosophy. In one of the ways of manufacturing bullet proof jackets, the impact is withstood by small impact resistant alumina tiles. The same analogy probably has been extended to the development of a “x-flex” by  U.S. Army Corps of EngineersEngineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) and Evansville, Ind.-based Berry Plastics Corporation‘s Engineered Protective Systems division. The product named as X-Flex tape can be applied to buildings and can withstand the impacts.

According to Scientific American, the process involved in retrofitting a wall with X-flex is quite simple. Primarily it’s a polymer compound reinforced with some strong fibers. The officials at Berry Plastics are quite ecstatic about this product. They believe that this product can save lives of millions, once the company gears itself in to mass production. Company officials have confirmed that the products have been successfully tested and the results have been quite encouraging.

One plus factor to ensure a secured profession in IT is by acquiring additional certificates for example Microsoft Certification, Cisco certification, Red Hat Certification etc. These certifications are designed to provide the recognition one needs in his IT profession and provide employers with validation of the same IT abilities.
