Awareness amongst the urban people towards going Green has been steadily growing. More and more educated and concerned individuals are opting for Green Homes . This trend is reflected in more and more Realtors showcasing Green features of their upcoming projects in their advertisements. Noida’s Real Estate has been growing at break neck speed today. Two to three years timeline would see, Builders adding more than 50000 housing units in NCR.
“In a green development, the whole idea is to reduce the carbon footprint,” says Vidur Bharadwaj, director, The 3C company , which has launched three green projects in Noida. “It’s not about getting a garden or a manicured lawn.”
In Mumbai the emphasis has been on building common rain water harvesting mechanism, providing CFLs, using proximity switches and timer controls for common lightings. The green fixtures usually make these buildings 15 to 20 per cent costlier than conventional ones. But, today common folk due to enhanced awareness is ready to pay the additional price. Upfront increased price may hurt initially but in longer run, these flats consume lesser electricity thereby returning the additional cost over a period of time.
Though not all housing projects are being launched and conceived while keeping environment issues in mind, but still if one is aware of minor points then during the process of selecting the location giving due consideration to these points, one can reap rich benefits in during its life time.
