Energy Consumption Pie in Commercial Buildings
Green Buildings or the Energy efficient buildings have been catching the attention of planners and developers alike. This is an hitherto untapped area which can be made use of for the purpose of energy conservation. The fact that HVAC is the most important area and accounts for 55% of the energy usages in a typical commercial building has been responsible for HVAC personnel assuming major role in Green Building activism.Lighting accounts for 14% of the energy usages and electronics and other areas about 27% and 4% respectively. It has been noted that in a typical commercial building the initial cost increases by 10-15% in case green measures are adopted but the payback period for this additional cost is 5-7 years. This fact alone should spur the corporates to adopt the Green Energy code for all their new buildings.
Most cost effective way to meet the LEED guidelines or the EPI (Energy Performace Index ) parameters is to design buildings with appropriate regard to sun and climate.
Building constructed without paying any heed to sun and climatic factors will have to invest much more to achieve the EPI parameters and some may never be able to achieve them.
Energy audits have revealed saving potential of more than 40% in the end usges such as lighting, cooling, ventilation and refrigeration.

hopefully, we would be shifting more and more towards green energy in the future..,-
we must shift into the use of Green Energy to prevent further pollution of this planet`:”
i think government funding should be diverted on the research of Green Energy and renewable power sources*~-
