Energy auditing your home.

We have been reading and discussing a lot on Climate Change and Global warming these days. These issues have surely been there on the top of agenda of every gatherings on energy and renewables. No doubt, we all are concerned and some of us might have even attended talks and presentations on these topics. But so far our talks and concentration have been only on industries, corporate houses and institutions. Residential buildings are also one of the greatest power guzzlers of our times.

There have been awareness program targeting the residences but the results have not been encouraging. Even amongst the proponents of energy conservation drive in our society, there have been very few individuals who have gone out of their preaching mode and have done something in their residences to save on energy.

Home Energy Audit, is one such way to find out areas(Energy Sinks) which need immediate attention. There are designated Energy Auditors and Energy Managers which can be asked to conduct home energy audits. They are expected to come up with recommendations, savings vis-a-vis expenditure on proposals, IRR for any improvements suggested etc.

An energy auditor may not be the only intelligent guy who should be asked to carry out home energy audit for yourself. In fact with slight help and guidance, an educated person can himself find out ways to save on the energy. Home owner is in fact the best choice for energy auditor.
