China Takes Lead Over US in Clean Energy Investments 2009.

China is leading the clean energy investment race. Asian country is the top most spender amongst all G-20 countries in clean energy investments. China spent $34.6 billions in clean energy investment in 2009. US was distant second with an investment of $18.6 billion. Investments by all G-20 countries have shown handsome improvements over last five years. China has dethrone US from the top position in the clean energy investments. For the perspective of our planet it may not matter much from where the investments is coming rather the quantum of investments would be more important.

Amongst the clean energy options, Wind and Solar have stolen the show in 2009. Coming years may not be very different. There appears tremendous scope in solar energy market. Wind presently occupies about 50% of the clean energy investments in the world but coming years may see solar segment stealing the march at least in terms of growth percentages.
While clean energy investments recorded 37% growth in Asia but saw negative growth of 33% and 16% in America and Europe. Recession and slow down was the reason behind negative growths in US and EU markets.
2009 saw clean energy investments of about $162 billions. Year 2010 is expected to have close to $ 200 billions as investment in clean energy. The future looks very bright for renewable in the global market. While China has already made its presence felt, India may the next nation to make a mark on the global horizon.
