We need Yahoo to carry on. Yahoo mail has been the most popular email service for many years now. Even today after Gmail has consolidated its position and offered so many linked services based on its account, Yahoo mail has continued to hold its fort after so many ups and downs in the Dot Com journey. We all love Yahoo. Its been part of our life for many years now. Yahoo was probably the first popular search engine when Internet came in to being. We all Internet veterans don’t want Yahoo to go or even leave its identity. Probably, I am in love with Yahoo. Yahoo has not been able to consolidate its position in the online search advertising market. While Google has marched ahead and created one of the finest revenue generating model, Yahoo could not capitalize on its early beginning. There are many reasons why Yahoo has failed. A little bit of introspection by Jerry’s team may reveal many answers but most important reason in my opinion has been the lack of emphasis on R&D and failure of its strategic marketing team. Yahoo could not fathom the future and remained contented with what they achieved at that point of time. Google worked and worked hard to create revenues out of nowhere.

Today Jerry has decided to go. But Yahoo has to live on. We all want Yahoo as a brand should remain in our midst. With right person at the helm of affairs, I am sure Yahoo will be able to see its golden periods in times to come.
