Try being offline for few hours.
We live in a world where we are networked almost 24×7 hours. With net savvy young children, young professional, corporate excutives, senior professionals working through their gadgets, smart phones and laptops, there is hardly any one in the literate world who is not online. Internet has made people boring and reclusive. Today people are willing to let their exercise regimen go astray for the sake of being networked and connected. Very often we feel the urge to check our mobiles and emails to know whether some message has landed in to our inbox. There are young and old alike who will keep their email client open and keep pressing send/receive option to make sure that they don’t waste any time in responding to the messages.
People sometimes get very irritated if they are away from Internet for few hours. This tendency has led to people skipping quality hours which they otherwise would have spent with their families. Being always there in front of computer, trying to figure out what went wrong in some part of the world or what’s up on Tweet scene, makes our mind dull and lethargic. It is a known fact that brilliant ideas arrive when people are not actually doing any work. Their mind is not networked. It may be very difficult for today’s youth but would definitely pay in the long run.
Colleges and top institutes are even grappling with this problem. Some have resorted to blanking out top social networking sites which gets the youth hooked and does nothing to improve the creativity and productivity of their work. Too much of time spent in to these networking sites make the child irritating and jittery.
- In order to remain creative and productive in your domain, one should try to take a break from being online. A few hours spent offline will definitely stimulate your mind and will make you more creative.
- Don’t let your physical exercise regimen suffer due to your job profile. Always find the time to exercise. Physical exercise does wonders for the mind.
- When you are offline, try to remain offline. Control your urge to get back to your smart phone and check status messages.
- Don’t compromise on your quality time to be spent with your family.
