Recession, no doubt is a bad word. Every organization dreads it. Precisely, because it brings about slowdown in economy, lower production figures, lower sales and a general feeling of helplessness. Many organizations that are unable to withstand the onslaught of recessionary pressures just fold up or get taken over. However sound organizations with established work culture, vision and beliefs continue to hold themselves and stand firm. This is truly the test of their strength and characters. Only the fittest survives presupposing on Darwinian’s principle. In other words when the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
During recessionary times securing order and keeping the machines in the factory buzzing with activity is an uphill task for all marketers. This is the time when every single lead and enquiry appears to be the only hope for organizations’ survival. All leads are required to be followed to their logical conclusion. Some specific tips for marketing teams can be broadly summed as under:-
-
Prioritize your work. Some customers can be classified as truly loyal based on your experience of handling them for last few years. They are very important to you during recessionary times. Many of your competitors would be in making efforts to poach on them. Pay great attention on these customers. Just go out an extra yard to please them.
-
Analyze your sales trends along with your leads collected over last few years. Go out after near misses. The once who have come very close to giving you an order but backed out at the last minute during past. They can be your hope. Just go after them.
-
Focusing on references surely can be another of your strategy to build upon. A happy and satisfied customer can bring about many more to the doorsteps of organization. Just pamper all your customers who help in bringing about more and more businesses.
- Delays would be criminal at this point of time. Adhere to timelines.
