There are millions of pages out there on the web proclaiming “Top SEO Tips”, “Ten Hot SEO rules” and stuff like that. Every other guy on web claims himself to be a SEO expert. Search Engine Optimization is a continual process and needs to be fine tuned at intervals. We all who are into web promotions and blogging are aware about the basic rules of the game. But is that all. Can one sit back and relax after employing some well known SEO tricks and see web traffic steadily growing.
Answer is no. Search engines keep perfecting their algorithm. Google has many PhD and doctorates working and perfecting their algorithms. An average SEO guy can never outsmart Google or for that matter Yahoo!, MSN or other search engines. Google is always on the lookout for perfection in their algorithms so that the user gets what he is actually looking for. Many of the SEO tricks which were proclaimed by the experts as the killer ones, may not be relevant in SEO domain today.
I have been to many conferences and have heard many speakers who have blogs with subscribers base of 30,000 and more. They would tell you about those tricks which you probably might be knowing. These tricks would bring your website at par with others in the field. But to qualify for first ten results in Google search page, these tricks won’t be sufficient. If that would have been the case then every Tom Dick and Harry would be outsmarting Google and declaring him or her as a SEO expert. But is that so. We all know that qualifying amongst first ten results in Google search is not a simple task. But there are only a few URLs who make it to top ten list. So what differentiates the “Also rans” with the leaders.
These top guys wont be shelling out their secrets. One has to keep reinventing the tricks of the trade and process of optimization is never complete. But what is the most important factor in getting good web traffic, is relevant content. One should not try to fool these search engines. A good content will always find its way in to the top search results.
