Preview PDF files in Outlook 2007

outlook 2007 Preview PDF files in Outlook 2007 consultingOutlook 2007 has a great feature through which all Excel, Word and PowerPoint documents can be previewed. No need to open these documents to view them. This feature is quite handy and saves a lot of time in running through your old mails to find out that elusive document which has kept you at your wits end. But there is a problem with the PDF files. When you tried to preview them last time, you got a message that said “Files can not be previewed because there is no previewer installed for it.” Quite annoying.

But this can be fixed very easily. Just go to Adobe site and search for Acrobat Reader 8.1 and then download it. But before you go ahead with downloading, ensure that your any other browser and Outlook 2007 is closed.

Once Acrobat Reader 8.1 has been downloaded, open Outlook 2007 and locate any message which is having PDF document as an attachment. Click once on the PDF attachment. You will see a caution stating “You should only preview files from the trustworthy source”. Files now can be previewed by pressing the “Preview File” button. Outlook is now ready to preview all PDF documents. It’s virtually free and a must add-on for Outlook 2007.
