Microsoft launches Windows 7 Beta
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, unveiled the most sophisticated, fast and slick Windows OS ever on the eve of CES 2009. Microsoft probably advanced the launch of Windows 7, as its Vista could not come up to users expectations and many had gone back to Windows XP to gain back stability and speed. Nevertheless Microsoft sold close to 300 million copies of Vista till date riding on sales of branded PCs as preinstalled OS. But the problems typical of Vista OS remained. The delays in startups and shutdowns along with irritating security notifications still trouble Vista users all over the world. Microsoft has hastened the release of Windows 7 as they wanted Windows users to put the Vista experience behind and savour the slick, fast and amazingly simple OS. Microsoft has announced that it will be available to developers immediately while general public will have to wait for one more day, 9th January, Friday. The new Windows 7 Beta will be available from Microsoft’s site as free download.
Microsoft also announced Windows live partnership with Facebook on the similar lines as it is with Flickr. Further, Windows live essentials which is Microsoft’s online software suite will be preinstalled on all Dell computers replacing Google Toolbar.
Ballmer wrapped up his keynote address with a promise to launch new OS for smartphones which will provide support for Adobe’s Flash Apps. Microsoft’s vision of future and a glimpse in to company’s futuristic technologies was given at the end.
