They will be witness to the one of the rarest of nature’s marvel. People have been flocking to the cities falling on the select band where complete solar eclipse will be visible. SIMAGE 300x236 Longest solar eclipse spectacle in our life time consultingBut there is an element of doubt. All of us are keeping our fingers crossed as rain gods are expected to play spoilsport. In India this is the monsoon season and chances of rain playing spoilsport is pretty high at this point of time. Taregna, a sleepy town close to Patna is brimming with joy and enthusiasm of scientists and amateur/professional photographers who have metamorphosed this town to a one which is brimming with life.

People in this town will not sleep tonight. They will wait for the clock to strike 0530 hours. Town has a historical past. Arya Bhatta, an Indian scientist who is also credited with inventing zero made his abode here and carried out lots of research on solar eclipses.

All Hindu temples are closed as eclipses are considered to be inauspicious times. This is considered to be a way to ward of evil spirits. Hindus also make attempts to purify themselves during eclipses by taking bath in Ganges and other holy rivers. The time is also right for solar scientists to study the outer periphery of sun which is otherwise difficult to see. Those who will witness the total solar eclipse will remember the moment for their lifetime.

The eerie silence when it will be completely dark for three minutes. Birds will stop chirruping, flowers will fold up, animals will be puzzled and we the human beings who have positioned themselves in the narrow band waiting for the crack of dawn, will have many stories to tell to our children and grand children.
