If you are one amongst the many Window Operating system users, you might have upgraded your system from Windows XP to Vista, by now. And in all probability, you might have also upgraded your office suite from Office 2000 or Office 2003 to Office 2007. Microsoft OS users are loyal and since the operating systems come bundled together with the computer systems, users have very little choice.
Above situation is true for all corporate or institutional users who are working in medium to large organizations. But they are another group of people who are running their own setups and are always on lookout for open sourced products. One of such goodies is OpenOffice, the open-source software office suite from Sun Microsystems for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and many more applications. If you have not yet tried it you have really missed something. The files developed in OpenOffice suites can be easily converted in many popular packages available in market. The OpenOffice writer documents can easily be converted to Google docs and even MS-Office documents base versions. The OpenOffice writer suite compares favorably with even Office 2007 barring few points.
