There are many organizations which have had CEOs who have catapulted their organizations to great levels. But the moment they have moved away from the scene or vacated their positions, organizations have had steep decline in each of their measurable parameters.

The reasons are not difficult to find. When these CEOs have been there at the helm of affairs, they have tried to milk these organizations for their benefits and stakes even sometimes at the cost of long term benefits. During there stay with these organizations, they have focused on short term results. Their styles have been Transactional, rather than Transformational. Bass’s theory of transformational leadership delves on motivating workers and employees to do much more than they are inherently capable of. Motivation drives them to the goals and interests which transcends their self interests.

Needless to say these CEO’s are not leaders. They are concerned about their own reputation and stakes. They are not at all bothered about the future of the organization. Their talk of vision and mission appears hollow as their heart is not in to what they preaching.

The current turmoil in US and EU which has besieged entire world has to blame deeds of such illustrious CEOs from Ivy Leagues and other reputed university, who have furthered their own interest without paying any scant attention to tax payers money.  This is the corruption of highest order. Not seen in even some of the most corrupt countries on record. I am sure, world will come out of this situation but lessons will have to learnt fast.
