Google is bigger and much stronger now. There was news earlier that Firefox has been dropped from Google Pack. It was later found out that Firefox as an option is still there. It was still available but not checked as a default option. Industry watchers opined that in order to have a credible alternative to IE, Google should continue to support Firefox. Now Google has just come out with Google Toolbar on Firefox as  a “second beta.” Google has added some new features which have given Firefox browser a Chrome look.

One distinguishing feature is presence of your most favored or recently visited sites as thumbnails on new Tab page. This gives Firefox browser a distinguishing Chrome look. However you  have an option of putting it off and going back to the old blank page through Toolbar or Firefox settings option.

But once you get used to this feature, Sergey Ryazanov, Software Engineer, Toolbar Team is pretty confident you would like it. According to Google Toolbar team, there is new support for Hebrew- and Arabic-speaking users with right to left text support. New Google Toolbar 5 Beta for Firefox can now be downloaded here. Google will continue to offer support to Firefox as Mozilla’s browser is currently placed at second position occupying one fifth of total browser market. Chrome after its launch in September 2008, has touched 1% market share in the month of December 2008. And it has long way to go before it can even challenge Apple’s Safari.
